VIDALIA — A local developer has cleared a full city block of Vidalia and is considering what he will do next.
Cash Rabb purchased the lot near the foot of the Mississippi River bridge framed by Carter Street, South Spruce Street, Gregory Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue approximately three weeks ago and has since cleared it of its aging metal warehouse.
“I had it cleaned off as soon as I owned it,” Rabb said. “It was full of old motors, debris, trees and chain-lined fence — it was basically full of garbage, and I just wanted a blank piece of property to work with.
“People might not realize that it is actually a full city block with Carter Street frontage, and it was a nice piece of real estate just hidden by that big jungle.”
Rabb said he is still considering what he will do with the property. Options he’s considering include locating a hotel there or selling the property outright, he said.
Rabb works in the oil business, but also owns other properties in and around Vidalia, including approximately 30 acres near the 1100 area of Carter Street.
