Great things are happening at ACCS

Moving from Baton Rouge to Natchez was hard for me at first, and I was nervous. But at the same time, I was excited about a new adventure.

I knew I would miss my friends at Parkview Baptist School that I had become close to after going to school with them since I was 4 years old.

When school began, I met several new friends, and they all welcomed me and showed me around my new school.

My teachers, Mrs. Dill and Mrs. Joseph, were also welcoming and helpful.

One of my favorite things the teachers did was go over our spelling words by breaking them into syllables.

Spelling is very difficult for me because of my dysgraphia, and this type of lesson was extremely helpful in learning my spelling words. The teachers made special accommodations for me that were not as tailored for me at my previous school. I also enjoy my physical education class with coach Melanie Hall.

We begin every class with prayer and are able to express ourselves spiritually. That makes me feel special.

I think that the smaller class size at Adams County Christian School was an advantage for me because the teachers were able to focus on me as an individual.

My previous school had larger class sizes that didn’t allow as much time for my needs as an individual.

Also, participation in our AYA cheer squad with my friends allowed me to feel like part of the ACCS family.

As a student at Parkview I felt like a leaf on a tree, and now at Adams County Christian School, I feel like the trunk.

ACCS will host an open house from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2 for children ages prekindergarten through fifth grade.
