NATCHEZ — A Natchez man is behind bars on a $146,500 bond for allegedly firing a shot at a man holding a young child.
Michael J. Coleman Jr., 21, 106 Gaile Ave., is being detained in the Natchez jail on charges of two counts aggravated assault — manifesting extreme indifference to human life and felon carrying concealed weapon in connection with the incident.
Natchez Police Department Investigator Jerry Ford said Coleman allegedly fired a shot at the victims from a vehicle, apparently angry at the male victim because he had started a romantic relationship with a woman Coleman had formerly dated.
Neither the man nor the child were injured in the incident.
Coleman had allegedly made verbal threats against the adult victim in the past, Ford said, and when he was arrested officers allegedly found a .380 pistol on his person.
Coleman was also charged with embezzlement and simple assault for unrelated incidents.
