NATCHEZ — Adams County Christian School’s soccer team inched closer to claiming the No. 2 seed in the playoffs with a 2-1 win against Brookhaven Academy Wednesday afternoon.

With the playoffs beginning in two weeks, seeding has crept in the back of head coach Jimmy Allgood’s mind.

“We’re really starting to put it together, and that’s important for us to get momentum during the playoff run, to hopefully get back to the state championship this year,” said Allgood after his team’s 10th win on the season.

The (10-2) Rebels struck first blood in the contest, as Zach Pintard scored from a cross by Lester Wells into the box. Pintard’s goal came on a header in the 25th minute to give ACCS a 1-0 lead.

ACCS took a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute when Wells dribbled past the last defender for a shot on goal at the top of the box.

“The offensive player of the game would have to be Lester,” Allgood said. “He made some fine plays, and Jace Calcote made some great defensive plays.”

ACCS’ Trey Fleming recorded 18 saves in the victory.
