JACKSON — Memorial services for W. Calvin Herring, who died peacefully after a brief battle with cancer Monday, Feb. 2,2015, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Herring was born in Natchez.
He earned his master of business administration and his bachelor of science degrees at Mississippi College. Throughout his military and professional career, he worked around the world in a variety of positions culminating with stints in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and Hawaii.
He cheerfully donated his time on Sundays serving at First Baptist Church of Jackson. He was a former deacon of Parkway Baptist Church in Natchez.
Calvin was a loving and caring father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nannette Herring and his parents, W.T. and Leathan Herring.
Survivors include one daughter, Loree Coleman and husband, Danny, and their three children, Daniel, Caroline and John; one son, C. Paige Herring and wife, Sandi, and their two sons, Joshua and Erik; two stepsons, Jeffrey Bolton and wife, Terry, and their three children, Joshua, Matthew and Ann-Marie Bolton and husband, Vicente Casto and Randy Bolton and his daughter, Haley.
The family extends their sincerest gratitude to the amazing healthcare providers of the University of Mississippi Medical Center Oncology Unit and Cancer Care Center who provided excellent care and exhibited boundless compassion during his final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please consider honoring Calvin’s memory by making a donation to the Mississippi Children’s Cancer Center.
