PORT GIBSON — Services for Christine Brown Walters, 86, of Lorman, who died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at the Claiborne County Medical Center in Port Gibson, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating.
Burial will follow at the Cane Ridge Cemetery in Lorman under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Walters was born May 13, 1928, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Rupert R. and Lela Scott Brown.
She was married to Mac Walters for 59 years. He died in December 2014.
After graduating from the United Vocational School in Red Lick, she worked at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. Returning to Jefferson County, she worked at Cohn Brothers in Lorman. She retired after working 18 years for Murdock Taylor, Jefferson County Tax Assessor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers, Alric, Rupert Anthony, Ray, Jimmie and Douglas; and two sisters, Rosalie and Frances.
Survivors include one son, Malcolm C. Walters and wife, Jennifer, of Lorman; three daughters, Debora E. Andrew and husband, Mike, of W. Virginia, Janice Walters of Lorman and Cynthia Melinie and husband, Phillip, of Gonzales, La.; two grandchildren, Daniel Liam Walters and Lauren Ashley Walters; one brother, Ezekiel Brown and wife, Jeanette, of Dallas, Ga.; three sisters, Pauline “Polly” Jenkins of Vicksburg, Magdalene Barousse of Kenner, La., and Flora Ann Fraiser of Rodney; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Hospital or to a charity of choice.
