NATCHEZ — A funeral Mass for Charles Christopher Wolfe, 59, of Natchez, formerly of New Orleans, who died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, after a lengthy illness, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Basilica.
Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Wolfe was born March 16, 1955, in New Orleans, the son of William Wolfe, M.D., and Marcelle “Sally” Barker Wolfe. He was a graduate of Holy Cross and attended University of Southwestern Louisiana.
Chris and Peggi embraced the city of Natchez after Katrina and were in turn embraced by the life and folks along the Mississippi River.
Chris was never happier than when he was hiking, canoeing, fishing and appreciating the awe-inspiring wonders of nature.
He was an avid Saints and Louisiana State University fan and will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends, in particular by his wonderful extended family from the Under-the-Hill Saloon and by his beloved and constant canine companion, Tippi.
Mr. Wolfe was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret “Peggi” Reed Wolfe; his mother of New Orleans; five siblings, Virginia W. Brown and husband, Ray, of Alexandria, La., Wise Wolfe IV of Carriere, Susan Wolfe Byars, M.D., and husband, Rice, of Memphis, Tenn., Harold Braxton Wolfe of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Martin B. Wolfe of Amite City, La.; and three nieces and nephews, Abigail, Barrett and Brennen Brown.
