FERRIDAY — The Louisiana High School Athletic Association released its playoff brackets Monday, putting Vidalia on the road and Ferriday at home in the opening round.
The Ferriday Trojans will be the No. 7 seed in the Class 2A tournament, hosting Northeast in the opening round, while No. 22 Vidalia will play at Albany in the Class 3A bracket. Vidalia will play at Albany at 6:30 p.m., while Ferriday has yet to set a time and date. Ferriday head coach K.G. Watkins said he hopes to play at 6 p.m. Friday, and that his team will play in Vidalia’s gym.
“The LHSAA requires seating for at least 500, and we don’t have that,” Watkins said. “Playing at Vidalia isn’t something we’re going to get caught up in. It’s close enough that we’re still going to get home cooking, so it’s not going to bother us.”
The Cathedral Green Wave basketball team will host McAdams at 6 p.m. tonight, rather than the previously scheduled 7 p.m. tip. The Cathedral Lady Wave, who were supposed to play at McAdams Monday night, rescheduled their game for 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Like Cathedral girls, Jefferson County was forced to reschedule because of the weather, and will play against McLaurin at 6 p.m. Wilkinson County’s girls game against Velma Jackson was rescheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday as well. Jefferson County boys, who were scheduled to play today against Velma Jackson, will be rescheduled to 7 p.m. Thursday.
Natchez High School boys will play at Long Beach at 7 p.m. today. ACCS boys will play MRA at 6:30 p.m. today in Clinton in the MAIS Overall Tournament.
