NATCHEZ — Services for Melanie Tiffee White, 84, of Natchez, who died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kingston United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Speed officiating.

Burial will follow at the Jersey Setters Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. White was born May 3, 1930, in Harrisonburg, La., the daughter of Charles Pritchard Tiffee and Ruth Tyson Tiffee.

Mrs. White started her career as a bookkeeper and continued that profession as she followed her husband when he served in the U.S. Navy. She enjoyed bookkeeping at Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company as well as lumber mills and had fond memories of the number of years of service at J.M. Jones Lumber Company. The last job she had outside of the home before becoming a full time homemaker, was bookkeeping for Natchez Stockyard, which she loved immensely.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marie Tiffee Varner and Mattie Fore; one brother, Samuel Tiffee; and her poppa and momma that raised her from infancy, Henry C. Norman and Mattie Tiffee Norman.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Harold White; two sons, Dempsey White and wife, Rhonda, and Boyd White and wife, Pam; 10 grandchildren, Richard White and wife, Kristy, Nan Knight and husband, Jeremy, Matt Merritt, Amber Horner and husband, Josh, Brandi Merritt, Will Merritt and wife, Connie, Amos Merritt, Hannah Merritt, B.J. White and Christopher White; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Tiffee Jordan; one brother-in-law, Billy White of Tacoma, Wash.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Richard White, Jeremy Knight, Matt Merritt, Will Merritt, Amos Merritt, B.J. White, Christopher White and Josh Homer.

Special appreciation to Deaconess Hospice nurse Misty Smith and Deaconess HHA Jackie White, Dr. Ken Stubbs for the many years of dedicated care and compassion. Very special heartfelt thanks to Cindy for the many years of loving and caring for our mother.
