Someone once told us, a website is like a telephone system. You may not be able to point to exactly the dollars your phone system earns your business, but you know you could not do business without one.
That is the case for the City of Natchez, which recently spent just under $50,000 to revamp the city’s website.
The city’s aim is to make the website more interactive for residents.
Not everyone who needs city services or to otherwise do business with the city can get to City Hall during business hours. More and more, people rely on doing business on the Internet.
The capabilities of the city’s new website include the ability to apply for city jobs directly online, the ability to pay a billed owed the city online, to bid for city contracts online and to view agendas for upcoming city meetings.
In addition, the city’s website developer is at work creating a smart phone application, which would notify users about road closures, emergencies and other happenings in the city.
Our society is becoming more tech savvy. Revamping the city’s website in a way that makes life easier for its residents is a job well done.
