More good news hits the Miss-Lou

Knowing how to give back to the community is something the Miss-Lou has mastered. Last week saw a long list of events in which locals showed their charitable side. Those were just a few of the good news items from our community last week that are worth a second glance today.
The Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual golf and tennis tournaments last week. The fundraiser helps the chamber promote a strong business atmosphere in our community.
Delta Bank had a special Relay for Life fundraiser Thursday. Bank employees traded in their business attire for aprons and served home-style food to raise money for cancer research. The bank’s efforts make us look forward to the Miss-Lou Relay for Life, which will be May 1 at the Concordia Parish Recreation Complex.
Leadership Natchez hosted its annual kickball tournament benefiting a number of local non-profit causes. In addition, Leadership Natchez plans to give an impressive $1,000 scholarship to a local high school senior. We applaud the businesses who sponsored the event.
Community members flocked to Jefferson Street United Methodist Church for a community-wide market with proceeds going toward church missions. We appreciate the church’s focus on missions.
Congratulations to Natchez football standout Stevan Ridley who signed a contract last week to play for the New York Jets. Lots of locals who had adopted Ridley’s former team, the New England Patriots, will soon be rooting for the Jets.
In an effort to conserve the monarch butterfly population, Trinity Episcopal Day School students put the final touches on a special habitat garden for butterflies as they make their annual migration south. We are happy to see Trinity incorporate more eco-friendly initiatives into its curriculum.
As we take flight into another busy week, we look ahead to more local events that will benefit the community and surrounding areas.
