MONTEREY — Vidalia High School’s softball team was looking forward to finishing its regular season with a varsity doubleheader against the Monterey High School Lady Wolves.

Instead, heavy rain came into east-central Louisiana Monday morning and drenched Monterey’s softball field. And the unplayable field conditions caused by that downpour forced the games to be cancelled.

And those were not the only softball and baseball games to be wiped out due to the inclement weather.
