FERRIDAY — Memorial services for Janice Howington Finley Matt, 60, of Ferriday, who died Monday, April 13, 2015, at the University Health Conway, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Ms. Matt was born Jan. 11, 1955, in Delhi, La., the daughter of Clarence Edward Howington and Laverne Mason Cowart.
Janice was well known in the Natchez hospitality industry. She was employed by the Natchez Coffee Company and Rolling River Roasters and Bistro. She received the Natchez Tourism SuperStar Award a number of times.
Janice never met a stranger and took great pride in serving her customers and representing Natchez. Her hard work ethic made her a strong leader as an exceptional banquet catering captain. When the opportunity arose to train under Chef David Leathers for carving fruits and vegetables, Janice took it to heart. She could turn a fruit or vegetable into a piece of art. She will be sincerely missed by her customers and co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Amy Marie Roach and husband, Thomas, of Ferriday; two sons, John Thomas Parker II and wife, Kristy, of Ferriday and Michael Johnese and wife, Diane, of Vidalia; two sisters, Barbara Allred and husband, Brian, of Vidalia and Leanne Evans of Kansas City, Kan.; one brother, Eddie Howington of Vidalia; 11 grandchildren, John Thomas Parker III and wife, Terrilynn, Stephen Parker, Dillon Parker, Sean Roach, Skylar Roach, Ariel Johnese, Makaylia Johnese, Seirra Johnese, Jase Johnese, Lucas Johnese and Chain Wilson; and a number of great-grandchildren and her working family at Rolling River Bistro.
