VIDALIA — Services for Hershel Ray Johnese, 78, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church in Vidalia with the Rev. Ronald Hall officiating.

Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Johnese was born Aug. 1, 1936, in Waterproof, the son of Eddie Johnese and Dottie Bennett Johnese.

He joined Faith Tabernacle March 29, 1976.

Mr. Johnese loved gardening, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola Johnese; three brothers, James “Jim” Johnese, David Johnese and Morris Johnese; two sisters, Elizabeth Adams and Debbie Johnese; and his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Johnese of Ferriday and Justin Johnese and wife, Kim, of Seguin, Texas; one daughter, Glennis Rachal and husband, Jimmy, of Denton, Texas; two brothers, Eddie “Dic” Johnese and wife, Linda, and Danny “Bee” Johnese and wife, Mary, all of Vidalia; two sisters, Glenda “Sue” Cunningham of Jasper, Texas and Annie McElwee and husband, Kenneth, of Vidalia; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of family, friends and his church family at Faith Tabernacle.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Birely, Bobby Maples, Ryan Maples, Robert Maples, Donnie Maples and Gerald Frazier.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Goss and Pat Anders.

The family thanks Camellia Hospice for their care and compassion.
