Iris Gertrude Letort Holloway

OCEAN SPRINGS — A mass of Christian burial for Iris Gertrude Letort Holloway, 95, of Ocean Springs, who died Friday, April 24, 2015, in Biloxi, will be at noon Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at the Southern Memorial Park under the direction of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Mrs. Holloway was born in St. Martin, the daughter of Henry L. and Ellen Jane Bullock Letort.

She was a lifelong resident of the Coast and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.

Mrs. Holloway worked as a seamstress for E.R. Moore and was a member of the Jackson County Homemakers Association. She was also actively involved with a Biloxi bowling league.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Joseph Holloway Sr.; her parents; two sisters, Priscilla L. Brown and Audrey Pownall; five brothers, Edwin, Otis, Fred, Laverne and Kenneth Letort; one son-in-law, Dr. David R. Steckler; two grandchildren, Jon Stephen Steckler and Jennifer Dale Steckler; and two sisters-in-law, Loretta Letort and Elaine Letort.

Survivors include one daughter, Dale Steckler of Natchez; three sons, Mayor A.J. Holloway Jr. and wife, Macklyn, of Biloxi, Donnie Holloway and wife, Agnes, of Natchez and Kenny Holloway and wife, Dianne, of Biloxi; 15 grandchildren, Heather Holloway and Jeffrey Holloway of Biloxi, Greg Holloway of Texas, Stephanie Bryson and David R. Steckler Jr. of Jackson, Suzanne Steckler, Gerrit Steckler, Wesley Steckler and Mark Steckler, all of Natchez, Mary Margaret Prescott of Zachary, La., David Holloway of Madison, Erinn Shauwecker of Starkville, Jamie Holloway of Greenwood, Kendall Holloway and Peyton Holloway of Biloxi; 24 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
