MONTEREY — Services for James Clay Paul, 92, of Acme, La., who died Friday, April 24, 2015, in Alexandria, will be at 2 p.m. at New Era Baptist Church today with the Rev. Dennis Baker and Rev. Jeff Moore officiating.
Burial will follow at New Era Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday.
Clay Paul was born in New Era, La., the son of James and Almeda Paul.
Clay Paul was retired from International Paper where he worked 33 years. He was a farmer and a lifelong member of New Era Baptist Church. He proudly served his country as a Seaman First Class, U.S. Navy during WWII. Clay Paul was best known for his love of God, his family, New Era Baptist Church, community and country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willidene Morace Paul; daughter, Vala Mae Paul; sisters, Evie Bounds, Eva Moreland and Myrt Lipsey; and brothers, Bill Paul and Raymond Paul.
Survivors include his two sons, Don Paul of Portsmouth, R.I., and Marcus Paul and wife, Sue, of Monterey; daughters, Teresa Williams and husband, Neil, of Menlo Park, Calif., Olivia Duplessis and husband, Bobby, of Covington, La., Barbara DePrato and husband, Jay, of Lake St. John, Evette Cross and husband, Steve, of Monterey, and Sarah Mills and husband, Chris, of Cypress, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Adella Paul and Hazel Little; and a number of nieces and nephews who dearly loved him.
Pallbearers will be Brent Burley, Blake Burley, Clay Owens, Paul Mathis, George Medeiros, Joe Medeiros, Web Williams, Hugh Ira Cross III and Luke Jennings.
Memorials may be made to New Era Baptist Church or The Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
