FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man was temporarily hospitalized Sunday after he mishandled a firearm.

According to reports at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, the 21-year-old victim was taken to the emergency room at Riverland Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his left hand.

The victim told investigators he was playing with a firearm at a friend’s residence at Ferriday Villa when he accidentally discharged the gun, shooting himself, reports said.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
