NATCHEZ — Services for Ruth Adele Hayles Lovitt, 85, of Natchez, who died Saturday, May 2, 2015, at her residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Brian Kyzar officiating.
Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lovitt was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Natchez, the daughter of David Columbus Hayles and Ruth Roberts Hayles.
She attended Ole Miss University where she was a Chi Omega.
Mrs. Lovitt was a member of First Baptist Church in Natchez, was active in the Pilgrimage Garden Club and was a local historian. She was also a member of the William Dunbar Chapter of the DAR.
Mrs. Lovitt was known for her love of her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph C. Lovitt; and her daughter, Leigh Ann Lovitt Austin.
Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Lovitt Sandel and husband, Alex, of Natchez; one son, R. Cameron Lovitt Jr. of Hattiesburg; seven grandchildren, Rudy Sandel and wife, Caroline, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Matthew Sandel and wife, Anna, of Gulfport, Sarah Sandel Middleton and husband, Hunter, of Brandon, R. Cameron Lovitt III and wife, Abby, of Hattiesburg, Taylor Steed Lovitt of Oxford, Daniel Austin and Katherine Austin.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Sandel, Matthew Sandel, Cameron Lovitt, Taylor Lovitt, Hunter Middleton and Lou Burkley.
A special thanks to Ivy Irving, Jackie Dixon and Mary Ann Roberts Davis for their loving care.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
