School may be out, but that is not a cue for a book-less summer.

Local libraries will offer a variety of educational and entertaining programs including special story times, animal presentations and musical performances.

• Magician and entertainer Dorian LaChance will kick off the summer reading program for 1st-6th graders June 4.

• Preschool reading time will be offered Wednesdays at 10 a.m. starting June 10.

• Da Story Weaver Da Terrence Roberts will use music and words to weave a story for participants at 2 p.m., June 9.

• Teens will decorate superhero masks at 2 p.m., June 10.

• The library will show a superhero movie at 2:30 p.m., June 11 and 18.

• Bridget Loland will discuss the importance of giving blood at 2 p.m., June 16.

• Grand Village Historian and Education Coordinator Becky Anderson will speak to teens about heroes in the Native American community at 2 p.m., June 17.

• Krissy Hamilton and some animal friends will put on a presentation about wildlife appreciation at 2 p.m., June 23.

• The library will have pizza and show a movie for family movie night at 4:30 p.m.

• The Natchez Police K-9 unit will visit the library at 2 p.m., June 30.

A free meal will be provided 30 minutes before the elementary and teen programs at the library. Lunch is provided by Bethel AME Church.

Vidalia branch

• Rick Kelley will perform some of his original children’s songs at 2 p.m., June 4.

• At 6 p.m., June 4 at the Vidalia Convention Center, Southern Living editor James Farmer will share gardening tips.

• Eric Herman will perform children’s songs at 2 p.m., June 11.

• A music and variety show featuring the puppet Harvey Rabbit will be at 10:15 a.m., June 16.

• The Snake Man Terry Vandeventer will teach local children about native snakes at 10:15 a.m., June 23.

• Georgiann Potts will present on American snipers in history at 6 p.m., June 23 and 24.

• Magician David LeBoeuf will perform at 2 p.m., July 9.

• Storyteller Sylvia Davis will visit the library at 10:15 a.m., July 14.

• Preschool (pre-k through kindergarten) programs will meet every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

• Elementary (grades 1st-5th) programs will meet every Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.

• Teen (grades 6th-8th) programs will meet every Tuesday at 11:15 a.m.
