One dead in Ferriday shooting

FERRIDAY — Ferriday police are investigating an early morning shooting Saturday that killed one man and left another injured.
The shooting occurred at Concordia Park Apartments on Kyle Road.
Concordia Parish Narcotics Task Force Agent John Cowan said Zan’Ron Williams. age unknown, was pronounced dead early Saturday at Riverland Medical Center. Williams’ death was caused by severe blood loss from a gunshot wound to the arm, Cowan said.
Contrell Milligan, age unknown, was shot in the lower leg, and is expected to make a full recovery, Cowan said.
A CPSO deputy who was patrolling the Concordia Park Apartments area, Cowan said, called in at approximately 1 a.m. today and said someone had been shot.
Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers found Milligan lying in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
Williams had fled the scene, and was seeking refuge in the 2700 block of Louisiana 15, Cowan said.
Both men were immediately transported to RMC for treatment.
Ferriday Police Chief Derrick Freeman said only one arrest has been made so far in the case.
James Jerome Hollins, 23, 313 Alabama Ave., was booked into the Concordia Parish Jail at 3 a.m. Saturday and charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
“Everything is under investigation.,” Freeman said.
Cowan said the relationship between Hollins, Williams and Milligan is currently unknown.
“We are gathering information right now and assisting the Ferriday Police,” Cowan said.
