MEADVILLE — Memorial services for Michael Wayne Davis Cobb, 52, a lifelong resident of Natchez, who died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Hazlehurst, will be announced at a later date.
Mike was born June 18, 1962, in Natchez, the son of Earle Davis Jr. and Barbara Cobb Davis. Following his parents divorce, Mike became Mike Cobb. He was the heart and soul of his Paw Paw, Douglas Cobb, and Maw Maw, Louise Cobb. Was he spoiled — Oh yes. Did he take advantage of it — yes he did.
Mike worked along side of his Paw Paw and became an accomplished floor finisher. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and other sports.
Mike’s last ride was in route to Jackson to leave a monetary gift with his former wife, Shara, for his unborn granddaughter who he was so excited about and was awaiting her arrival.
Mike was a member of Community Chapel of God where he had stood so proud at one time beside the Rev. Steve Pearson to deliver a sermon.
Mike always had a dog or dogs whom he loved dearly. He had a kind, gentle heart and helped anyone he could.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Carl, who was always there for him; son, James Michael and fiancée, Chaise, who are awaiting the birth of a baby girl; grandson, Rhyen Cobb and his son, Austin Miller; sister, Dona Moore, and her children, Andrea and Austin; uncle, Doug Cobb and wife, Janis; cousins, Justin, Ginny, Michelle and Jeanene; his father and stepmother, Sally Davis; sisters, Dee Dee and Nicky and their children, Jacob, Joshua, Noah, Ryan and Riley; aunt, Sandie; uncles, Ron and Dallas; a number of cousins; childhood friend, Rickey Champblin; and close friend, Lucy.
He is also survived by his loyal dog, TJ, who took that last ride with Mike and miraculously survived the accident — getting out after the truck burst into flames.
