NATCHEZ — A Natchez man faces his second sex crime charge in as many months, and was detained Wednesday on a $500,000 bond.
Jesus Martinez, 45, 1249 U.S. 61 North, was booked into the Adams County jail on a charge of rape (assault with intent to ravish) Wednesday.
Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the alleged incident for which Martinez was arrested happened over the Memorial Day weekend.
Mayfield said Martinez previously knew the single alleged victim, but they had not been involved in any kind of romantic relationship.
Following Martinez’s arraignment in Adams County Justice Court, Judge Charlie Vess set Martinez’s bond at $500,000.
The court will have a bond hearing in the matter today.
Martinez was arrested in Vidalia in late April on two counts of sexual battery and one count of simple battery after patrons at El Ranchero — the restaurant Martinez owns — alleged he had inappropriately touched them and had bitten one of them.
Martinez was released on a $10,000 bond in that incident.
