NATCHEZ — Learn fascinating gardening tips and get your feet moving to the sound of music this weekend in the Miss-Lou.

As the summer heat gets under way, a specialist on horticulture will offer much needed knowledge for local farmers.

Author and lifestyle export James Farmer will offer a presentation at 6 p.m. today at the Vidalia Conference and Convention Center on gardening, landscape design, cooking and lifestyle tips.

This event should attract and bring many guests to enjoy this special program funded by Concordia Parish Library, retired wildlife management professional Hugh Bateman said.

Farmer, who is an editor-at-large for Southern Living Magazine, will guide Miss-Lou residents through the process of trendy garden living with southern style.

Farmer has developed a love for southern food cooking since a child, putting him at the forefront of the garden-to-table lifestyle.

Sibley Zydeco Festival

Family and friends will gather this weekend at an annual festival that shines in music and fun.

The Sibley Zydeco Festival will kickoff Friday with at rodeo at 7 p.m.

Bigg Redd and The Creole Soul will perform live at 8 p.m. Friday night.

Gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday and live music starts at 2 p.m., which will feature the superstars of Southern Soul, R&B, Blues and a platinum rap artist.

Those who attend the event will be able to enjoy activities such as mechanical bull riding, bungee jumping, wall climbing and gyro extreme.

An ATV giveaway will also take place during the event, which is sponsored by Dawkins Polaris. Tickets are $10.

Friday admission is $10; Saturday admission if $20; kids 6-12 $10; and $10 per ATV.

The Sibley Zydeco Festival will be at Ben Corner Plantation, located 11 miles south of Natchez on Beane Drive in Sibley.

New Hope Baptist Church Musical Extravaganza

New Hope Baptist Church will host a musical extravaganza at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature groups from Greenville, McComb and Coles.

Dinner will be sold during the event.
