Work session scheduled for noon Monday

NATCHEZ — In response to some confusion concerning entries in the city’s most current docket, the Natchez Board of Aldermen scheduled a work session for noon Monday.
The motion to approve the docket, which lists bills owed to city vendors and outlines city payroll, initially failed at the regular board meeting Tuesday.
However, after a re-do vote that entailed extracting payroll and approving its funding, the docket passed.
Ward 1 Alderwoman Joyce Arceneaux-Mathis, who initially voted against the docket, said her main concerns stem from unanswered questions on whether the city is paying bills twice.
“There are some concerns about where funds are being moved from,” Arceneaux-Mathis said.
Since the board’s second monthly meeting for June was canceled because members are attending a Mississippi Municipal League conference, Natchez Mayor Butch Brown said he wanted docket concerns to be addressed sooner rather than later.
Other items aldermen will discuss at the session include the balance of the general fund budget and a list of invoices paid out of the public properties fund.
The session will be held in the Natchez City Hall conference room, 124 S. Pearl St.
