NATCHEZ — Services for Amos Donnell Williams, a Natchez police officer, who died Thursday, June 18, 2015, at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Minor officiating.06:25 Amos Donnell Williams obitpic

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mr. Williams was born Oct. 17, 1984, in Natchez, the son of Donald Ray King and Celestine Strauder.

Amos accepted Christ in August 1994, at St. James African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cannonsburg. He was a faithful member of Wayside Lighthouse Love and Holiness Church.

He was a 2004 graduate of Natchez High School. He was also a member of the Natchez High School marching and symphonic band, serving as the assistant leader in the tuba section.

Amos became employed as a patrolman with the Natchez Police Department, April 15, 2013. He is fondly remembered by his co-workers as being dependable, kind and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was always jovial and was often time thought to be a “jokester.”

He leaves footprints of precious memories within the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father; grandfather, Booker T. May; grandmother, Isabelle Anderson; great-aunt, Katie Dembly; and great-uncle, Isaac King.

Survivors include his devoted wife, Kimberly Williams; five sons, Allen Williams, Amos D. Williams Jr., Adrian Williams, Aiden Williams and Alandis Williams; one daughter, KaNiya Simpson: his loving mother and her husband, Milton; four sisters, Rayshell Williams of Savannah, Ga., Michelle Payne and husband, Darrell, Treva Williams and Terrika Williams, all of Natchez; one brother, Donald R. Williams of Natchez; seven great-uncles; 12 great-aunts; eight aunts; three uncles; four nieces; and five nephews.
