NATCHEZ — Services for Joseph “Buffalo” “Stepper” Jackson Sr., 92, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Merit Health Systems, will be at 11 a.m. today at Greater St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Dandridge Brooks Sr. officiating.
Burial will follow in Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time today at the church.
Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Natchez, the son of Fred and Mary Moore Jackson.
He was a Veteran of World War II.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susie Dorsey Jackson; one son, Joseph Jackson Jr; one daughter, baby girl Jackson; six sisters, Charlotte Butler, Laura Williams, Irene Jackson, Loulla Davis, Carrie Gibbions and Heneratte Jackson; and two brothers, Calvin Jackson and Willie Jackson.
Survivors include 10 children, Jerry Jackson and wife, Kelly, and Yvonne Jackson, both of Cleveland,Ohio, Mary Vicks and husband, Craig, and Kenn Jackson and wife, Jackie, both of Oklahoma City, Ray Jackson and wife, Evelyn, Gloria Jackson, Larry Jackson and wife, Pat, Lonnie Jackson, Marilyn Logan and husband, Joseph, and DeShawn Jackson and wife, Marinka, all of Natchez; one adopted son, Preston Jackson; one brother, Fred Jackson of Harvey, Ill; one sister-in-law, Louise Russell; one godchild, Shamieka Thomas; and a number of grandchidren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, newphews and other relatives and friends.
