FERRIDAY — Services for James I. Barber, 64, of Harvey, La., formerly of Ferriday, who died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at the West Jefferson Medical Center in Marrero, La., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Matthew Baptist Church on Lake St. John in Ferriday with the Rev. Jennie Kimble officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Barber was born April 25, 1951, in Natchez, the son of James and Creola Jefferson Barber.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother of Ferriday; two children, Jeremy Mitchell and Kierstin Mitchell, both of New Orleans; two brothers, William Barber and wife, Edna, and Clarence Barber, all of Ferriday; seven sisters, Gladys Welsh and husband, Herbert, of Marrero, Frances Wilson and husband, Henderson, Ella Alexander and husband, Jimmy L., of Columbia, S.C., Leola Grant and husband, Isaiah, of Orlando, Fla., Alice of Hawthorne, Calif., Deloris Barber and Jennie Barber, both of Ferriday; his fiancée, Albertine Celestine of Marrero; six aunts; two uncles; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
