NATCHEZ— A fight at the River Correctional Center, Ferriday, last Sunday resulted in a stab wound for an inmate.
Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Vernon Stevens said an altercation between the two inmates began as a fight over the TV.
“One of them stabbed the other one, and the guy was taken to the hospital to receive medical care,” Stevens said.
According to the police report filed Tuesday, the inmate stabbed the other in the arm with a piece of metal. The injured inmate was taken to the hospital where they received stitches for their injury.
Jack Fletcher, who investigates security problems at the correctional facility, conducted an investigation.
“He had enough evidence to charge the guy with assault,” Stevens said.
Aggravated assault charges were filed against the inmate on Tuesday.
Stevens said the charge would go through the District Attorney’s office just like any other crime. Whatever charges the judge gives him will be added to his existing charges.
“He will be tried with assault and go through the court process,” Stevens said.
