NATCHEZ — Services for Derek Reed, 46, of Denver,  who died on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Merit Health Hospital-Natchez Community Campus in Natchez, will be on at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Scott Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Denver. Services in Natchez are under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

A “Celebration of Life” Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Reed was born on Aug. 24, 1968, in Natchez, the son of Ronald Reed and Jacqueline Evans Reed.

He graduated from North Natchez Adams High School and received a bachelor of science degree from TUI University. Later, he served in the Air Force. He was employed in administrations with the Department of Veteran Affairs. He was a Baptist and a member of King Solomon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. John Scott Sr. before relocating. Mr. Reed enjoyed cooking, golfing, traveling, being with family and friends and serving others.

Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Josephine Evans.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Andrea “Ann” Reed of Denver; son, Bronson Reed of Denver; his parents of Chicago; three brothers, Ronald Reed Jr., Morris Reed and Bryan Giles, all of Chicago; three sisters, Quiwana Bell, Sharon Whitehead and Sheila Sanders, all of Chicago; grandfather, Oliver Evans Sr. and other relatives and friends.
