NATCHEZ — Services for Robert Edwin Day, 95, of Natchez, who died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Merit Health Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cliff Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Russell Wagoner officiating.

Burial will follow at the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery in Amite County under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, both at the church.

Mr. Day was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Amite County, the son of Robert Hampton Day Jr. and Lola Forman Day.

He was retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company.

Mr. Day was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army 7th Armed Division that was deployed to Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and France. He was a Mason and a member of Harmony Lodge in Natchez.

Mr. Day served a number of years on the Adams County Water Board Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Ann Good Day; his second wife, Lucille Grantham Day; one brother, Benjamin Day Jr.; four sisters, Ruby Lee McTeague, Inez Temple, Loretta Guthrie and Geraldine Bateman; and two stepchildren, Bob and Bill King.

Survivors include one son, Odell Day and wife, Rita; one daughter, Martha Roy and husband, Glynn; four grandsons, Robert Day Jr., David Day, Timmy Day and Glynn Roy Jr.; one loving granddaughter, Jeanette Day; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron Day, Corvan Day, Jarrett Day, Anthony Day, Zack Day, Shyanne Day, Ashlee Roy and Hayden Roy; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Day, Corvan Day, Jarrett Day, Zack Day, Melvin Grantham and Rodney Grantham.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Cliff Temple Baptist Church Adult III Sunday School Class.
