NATCHEZ — Natchez Fire Department Lieutenant Connor Burns is recovering from chemical burns suffered approximately a week and a half ago while responding to a vehicle fire on Wood Avenue.

Battalion Fire Chief Leyland Rymer said Burns’ face and hands were burned in the incident, and Burns has since been treated at the Mississippi Burn Center in Jackson.

Burns, who is an acclaimed artist and potter, told friends through social media on Saturday that he was home and recovering from second-degree burns to his head and face. Burns’ post suggested his doctor expected him to have a full recovery.
