NATCHEZ — On Saturday, Natchez Police made an arrest in connection with a burglary at Travel Inn.

Natchez Police Department Detective Jerry Ford said Melissa O’Mara, 41, of 1 E. Maxie Court, Natchez, was arrested in connection with the May 12 burglary at the Travel Inn at 271 D’Evereux Drive.

Ford said O’Mara allegedly broke into a guest’s hotel room and stole approximately $2,000 worth of goods from the guest. Ford said the room showed no signs of forced entry, and the guest said they did not give O’Mara authorization to enter or access to the room.

“We ended up obtaining video footage that showed her breaking into the hotel,” Ford said.

Ford said a warrant for her arrest was signed on May 22.

“They hadn’t been able to locate her since the warrant originated,” Ford said.

Some of the goods were eventually tracked down to a pawn shop and recovered.

O’Mara faces a July 13 court date.
