NATCHEZ — Services for Dorothy Lee Champ, 93, of Natchez, who died Monday, July 13, 2015, in Natchez, will be noon Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Smith officiating.07:17 FannieChamp obitpic

Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

An Eastern Star ceremony will be at 5 p.m., visitation will be 5:30 to 6 p.m., with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Champ was born Nov. 25, 1921, in Adams County, the daughter of John Evans and Fannie Smith Evans.

She was retired from AJFC. She was also a member of Tates Magnolia Baptist Church.

Mrs. Champ enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, visiting different churches and word-find puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Champ Jr.; one son, Lee “Mickey” Williams; two sisters, Annie Baker and Thelma Clark; two brothers, Charles and Bill Evans; and two grandchildren, Sanches Champ and Ashley Williams Marsaw.

Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn White and husband, Cortez, and Fannie R. Champ; one brother, John Evans and wife, Cordelia; one sister, Mable Evans of Port Arthur, Texas; seven grandchildren, Wanda Laurant and husband, Keith, Jasminee White of Dallas, Amber Anderson, Rance Champ and Brenda King, all of Natchez, Troy King of Jackson, Mickie Williams of Virginia and Dr. Christopher Williams and wife, Jamie, of Gulfport; 12 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Gale Williams; three sisters-in-law, Julia Evans of Natchez, Shirley Johnson and husband, Calvin, and Mary Shaw of Chicago; one brother-in-law, Roosevelt Champ; two godsons, JD Murray and wife, Mary, and Willie Johnson and wife, Janice; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
