Do right thing: Re-elect our sheriff

I’m writing this with a concern that has been on my mind. Mr. Ed Tucker wrote an article in top of the morning about Sheriff Mayfield.

I thought how ironic it was he didn’t say he had just resigned from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

When he worked there, he had a car to go home in and he was not a deputy but he didn’t complain about the budget.

We never saw any ads about him complaining about what kind of car the sheriff drove either.

And these secretaries he says drive cars, Mr. Tucker are you referring to Ms. Karen Ewing? She’s not a secretary. She is riding roads going to court for sex offenders to keep our children and grandchildren safe.

Are you referring to Michelle Nations? She’s a lot more than a secretary. She’s an investigator.

Also Ms. Courtney Taylor? She’s the public information officer, not a secretary.

I don’t know about y’all, but if I have any of these crimes happen to me, I don’t care if Ms. Karen, Ms. Michelle or Ms. Courtney comes up in a bus. What they drive would be my least concern.

Also complaining about the large vehicles our deputies’ drive, they spend many an hour in those vehicles. They need to be comfortable.

Instead of complaining about what they drive, go up to them and thank them for keeping us safe.

Sheriff Mayfield couldn’t have spent anything that wasn’t in his budget. I think Sheriff Mayfield is a wonderful sheriff; he’s not doing this just for fame and fortune. It’s because he cares about Natchez and its people.

So don’t listen to mud slinging. Look back at all the things our sheriff has done for us and then make your mind up on who to vote for.

Also my son is a jailer at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and no, Mr. Tucker, he doesn’t drive an Adams County Sheriff’s Office car.

Thanks for listening to me. I hope and pray you’ll do the right thing and re-elect our sheriff.
