SMITHDALE — Services for Elwin Jackson Spring, 72, of Roxie, who died Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Gilead Primitive Baptist Church in Smithdale with the Rev. Luke Addison officiating.07:28 ElwinJSpring

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Hartman Funeral Home in McComb.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Spring was born Feb. 16, 1943, in Franklin County, the son of Floyd and Mary Lou Spring Martin.

He was Baptist.

Mr. Spring was employed by Southeastern Sprinkler Company in Jackson and in the oilfield in Natchez for a number of years.

He was a loving father and was generous to a fault. He spent his pastime doing what he loved, hunting and fishing.

He will be sadly missed by those who loved and knew him.

Mr. Spring was preceded in death by his parents and a number of other family members.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Spring; two children, Mike Springs and wife, Kathy, of Brandon and Stephanie Wilson and husband, Charles, of Lucien; four grandchildren, Timothy Springs and Kinley Springs of Brandon, Tara Vincent and husband, Justin, of Brookhaven, and Jessie Wilson of Lucien; two great-grandchildren, Lankston Vincent and Ainsleigh Vincent; and two sisters, Mrs. Joel Leigh of Tallahassee, Fla., and Mrs. Buffkin and husband, Jack Hude, of Natchez.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Broom and Benji Spring.
