NATCHEZ — Natchez Entergy customers were left in the dark Wednesday afternoon when a transmission line failed during a thunderstorm that went through Gloster.

In all, 16,700 Entergy customers served by the Natchez, Woodville, Centreville and Gloster substations lost power, said Tim Runnels, customer service representative for Entergy.

“Entergy customers lost power when their 115,000 volt transmission line failed at 4.54 p.m.,” Runnels said. “Entergy is still investigating, but it appears that a thunderstorm moving through the Gloster area caused the outages.”

Natchez customers lost power for eight minutes, he said.

“The remaining customers were all back on in 13 minutes,” Runnels said.
