Election update: Gray takes District 4 seat; Butler and Felter face runoff; Lazarus, Hutchins re-elected

NATCHEZ — In early unofficial election results, Natchez Alderman Rickey Gray appears to have won the District 4 seat on the Adams County Board of Supervisors.
Former District 5 Supervisor S.E. “Spanky” Felter led in his race with 811 votes, besting the candidate who beat him in 2012, Calvin Butler. Butler received 620 votes, while James Berry took 330 and Brenda Robinson took 173. The runoff will be Aug. 25.
District 1 Supervisor Mike Lazarus and District 3 Supervisor Angela Hutchins have also apparently been re-elected.
In unofficial results, Gray took 1,009 votes — 69.9 percent of the total — while contender Ray Brown received 365 votes and Rita Brooks garnered 69 ballots.
For the District 1 race, Lazarus garnered 1,048 votes — 56.6 percent — while Wes Middleton received 802, or 43.4 percent of the ballot..
In District 3, Hutchins received 1,003 votes to challenger Wilbert Whittley’s 373 votes.
