NATCHEZ — Services for Peggy Newman Myers, formerly of Baton Rouge, who died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at her residence in Manchester, Tenn., will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Assumption Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Ms. Myers was born June 1, 1949, in Natchez, the daughter of Amos and Clara Newman.
She served a short time as a Marine, later working for a number of years at the Adams County Department of Human Services. After earning her LPN license, Peggy worked as a nurse in the NICU at Natchez Community Hospital. She later moved to Baton Rouge where she worked as an insurance compliance officer for the Louisiana Department of Insurance, retiring in 2014.
Peggy loved cooking, crocheting and spending time with her children and grandsons. She also enjoyed spending time with her dogs. She was an animal lover.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Louise Manley of Alabama; and one niece, Shannon Jamison of Natchez.
Survivors include two daughters, Melanie “Mitch” Myers and partner, Jobe Nasca, of Baton Rouge and Jaki Robinson and husband, Justin; two grandsons, Braxton Colby Robinson and Parker Jace Robinson, all of Natchez; and eight siblings, Amos Eugene Newman, Ida Mae Coley, Nancy L. Day, Elizabeth A. Jamison, Sandria F. Stevens, Marilyn J. Liebig, Carolyn D. Wethersby and Betty J. Green.
Memorials may be made to the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society.
