ACCS drops two in tourney

ST. FRANCISVILLE — Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels are still looking to piece everything together.
Earlier in the season, the team was ripping the ball and committing multiple errors, but in a tournament held by Silliman Saturday, it was the complete opposite.
In a 2-1 loss to Bowling Green through five innings and a 7-4 loss to Amite School Center through four innings, ACCS totaled five hits but cut down on the errors.
“We did better defensively, and we made contact, but it was straight in front of people,” ACCS head coach Rick Fife said. “In our district game against Brookhaven Academy Monday, we need to be more aggressive at the plate.”
Brianna Henson went 2-for-2 in the loss to Amite, while Ashleigh Williams pitched for the Rebels. Henson pitched in the second game against Bowling Green, and Marlee Magee recorded a double.
“Ashleigh and Brianna both pitched pretty well today,” Fife said. “The amount of hit totals was not too bad. They threw a lot of ground balls. If they continue to do that, we’ll have success.”
The Lady Rebels will host back-to-back home games this week, featuring a game against Brookhaven Academy Monday followed by an encounter against Centreville Academy Tuesday.
“I don’t want us to have to hit in a lot of late counts with two strikes like we did today,” Fife said. “We weren’t as aggressive as I’d like for us to be, and we look to change that Monday.”
Following the tournament, ACCS is 5-7 on the season.
