MEADVILLE — Services for Billy S. Chapman, 87, of Meadville, who died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, will be 2 p.m. today at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Alexander and the Rev. Johnny Bolin officiating.

Burial will follow at the Damascus Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Chapman was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Lucien, the son of James Quitman and Ollie Wilson Chapman.

He was a member of Meadville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

He was a longtime employee of Scarbrough Motors in Meadville and co-owner of C&C Motors in Meadville. He also served as the Meadville Fire Chief for a number of years. He really enjoyed fishing, traveling and dining out.

Billy was a loving husband, father, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Betty Ann Chapman.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Reba Carwyle Chapman and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Carwyle, Ken Carwyle, Jeremy Howell, Adam Steele, James Conley, Eddie Holmes, Mark Fortenbery, Joey Taylor and Ronny Thompson.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Meadville Fire Department.

The family extends a very special thank you to caregiver Katherine Channell.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Natchez Children’s Home, Baptist Children’s Village or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
