NATCHEZ — A clerical employee of the Natchez Police Department was arrested Wednesday on prescription fraud charges.
Angela Minor, 45, 10 Terry Road, was booked into the Adams County jail on a warrant for obtaining a prescription by fraud.
Minor works at the Natchez Police Department as a records clerk. Adams County Justice Court Judge Charlie Vess set Minor’s bond at $30,000, a total that he said incorporated three separate warrants.
Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Minor was released on her own recognizance after booking.
Mayfield said the warrant originated with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, and thus he did not know the specific details of the case against her.
Natchez Police Chief Danny White said he did not know the specifics of Minor’s case, either, and had not known any arrest was pending prior to her booking Wednesday.
“When I found out about it, she had already been arrested,” he said.
Minor is currently on leave without pay until the matter is resolved, White said. A spokesman for the Department of Public Safety — under which the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics operates — did not return phone messages seeking further information.
