SICILY ISLAND — Graveside services for Herman Doyle Cockerham, 56, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, will be 5 p.m. Friday at the Highland Park Cemetery in Sicily Island.

Burial will follow under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Cockerham was born Sept. 24, 1958, the son of Thomas Oran Cockerham and Edith Carr Cockerham.

Herman was a simple man who loved his family dearly. He was a person who would give the shirt off his back to anyone he felt may need it more than him.

He was a “jack of all trades” and would do anything to help others. He loved to laugh and if others were not laughing before, they would be when he arrived. He was always carefree and picking at others. There was no doubt he was loved by many and will be missed. His memories will live on forever through his family and friends.

Mr. Cockerham was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include two brothers, Buddy Cockerham and Greg Cockerham, both of Ferriday; four sisters, Annie Taylor or Denham Springs, La., Pamela Cockerham of Moss Bluff, La., Tina Gaston of Ferriday and Theresa Bliznik and husband, Thomas, of Michigan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be June Bug Cockerham, Ernie Lucas, Greg Cockerham, Buddy Cockerham, Andy Woods and Marty Cardwell.
