VIDALIA — Five Concordia Parish officials were elected Thursday when qualifying for the Oct. 24 general primary closed with no other contestants in their races.

Clerk of Court Clyde Ray Webber, Tax Assessor Jerry Clark, Police Juror Joe “Bear” Parker and Police Juror Tommy “Red” Tiffee all qualified for re-election without opposition this week.

Coroner candidate Jim Graves of Monterey likewise had no one qualify against him.

Qualifying of candidates closed Thursday afternoon after three days.

The area’s legislative delegation — District 32 Sen. Neil Riser, District 34 Sen. Francis Thompson and District 21 Rep. Andy Anders — also had no opposition.

With the close of qualifying, the races in contention are between:

-Sheriff — Kenneth Hedrick and Payne Scott, both independents.

-Police Juror, District 1A — Carey Cook and Johnnie “Rip” Woodruff, both Democrats.

-Police Juror, District 2, Wille Dunbar, Fred Marsalis, Rodney “Fred” Washington and Dax Winston, all Democrats.

-Police Juror, District 3A — Adam Probst and Russell G. Wagoner Sr., both Republicans, and Tim Welch, independent.

-Police Juror, District 3B — Ronnie Harris and Cornell Lewis, both independent, and Whest Shirley, Republican.

-Police Juror, District 4A — Jerry Beatty and Rodney Matthews, both Democrats, and Cade Craft, Republican.

-Police Juror, District 4B — Ray Cater, Democrat, Daryle Price and Jimmy Wilkinson, both independent.

-Police Juror, District 5A — Suson Hauer, independent, and Jimmy Jernigan, Democrat.
