ferriday — Jarrett Hoffpauir summarized Delta Charter’s 42-8 loss to Cedar Creek in one sentence Friday night — “It was a bad night of football for Delta Charter football.”
Cedar Creek came into the game looking to beat Delta Charter in the trenches, and Hoffpauir said the Cougars exceeded.
“We ran into a team that was well disciplined and stuck it to us,” Hoffpauir said. “We weren’t able to do much tonight. We got beat upfront. They took the run away from us, and Trey (Poole) did not have time to do anything. It was a rough night.”
Cedar Creek pounced on Delta Charter, going up 42-0 in the first half. Starting quarterback Poole injured his hand and was replaced by Dawson Woodruff in the second quarter.
“He’s going to be OK,” Hoffpauir said. “We expect him to be back next week.”
Freddie Mango recorded the lone touchdown for Delta Charter in the fourth quarter on a 20-yard run.
Hoffpauir is hoping his young team learns a valuable lesson from the loss.
“I don’t think our guys realized how much we need to prepare every week,” Hoffpauir said. “I don’t think we prepared well this week, and hopefully, we will do that from now on.”
With the loss, Delta Charter goes to 1-1 on the season.
