Support veterans at poker run

Let’s reference Twisted Sister: “You’ve got to ride to live, live to ride.” Get ready to ride! The 5th Annual Natchez Poker Run will be held Oct. 3, at Fat Mama’s Tamales. “Let the life fever go, the world is yours you know”; get your motorcycle, car, truck, or any street legal vehicle and come join the show.

This year the Poker Run is benefitting our local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9375. With your help will be able to complete many projects. All monies are utilized on a local level. A few of the many projects sponsored by the VFW include; Voice of Democracy, which is a local high school essay contest; Patriots Pen, which is a local junior high essay contest, A Military Assistance Program, Helping Needy Veterans, and Support National Home for Children Who Lost a Solder in Battle.

The Krewe of Fat Mama’s Tamales and Adams County Search and Rescue have planned this event to assist VFW Post 9375 in their amazing endeavors.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at Fat Mama’s Tamales. The lead car leaves at 10 a.m.

The first Mississippi stop will be the 33 Club, which is on U.S. 33. From there we will go to AK’s in Washington, MS. Our next stop is CR’s Bar on Highland Boulevard, where we will have lunches available for $5. Following lunch, we ride to Illusions on Highway 84 in Vidalia, LA. Our last stop will be at Fat Mama’s Tamales located on Canal Street in Natchez, MS.

At each stop every rider will draw one card per hand. At the end of the ride, the best hand wins! The best hand is a first-place prize of $300, donated by Stuart Heflin and Russ Wood of State Farm Insurance. The 2nd Place hand wins $200, provided by Natchez Bus Terminal. The third place winner receives $100, donated by Cedar Creek Mobile Home Park.

There will be door prizes, auctions, and a 50/50 bucket. Many thanks to Krewe member Aimee Guido who designed this year’s shirt. T-shirts will be sold for $15.00 each. You will surely want one!

More information can be found on our website, NatchezPokerRun.com.

For $100, you can sponsor this event and have your name on the shirt! All sponsorships must be received by Sept. 21. Please call Melissa Brown for further information at the number listed below.

The Krewe of Fat Mama’s Tamales, Adams County Search and Rescue, and VFW Post 9375 thank you for your support.

In the words of Twisted Sister:

“Ride on and don’t look back, you can’t change what’s done

Drive hard for great glories

You all must be someone

So win, don’t show

Let the life fever go

The world is yours you know”.

Come join us to help VFW Post 9375, Oct. 3, 2015.
