ALEXANDRIA, La. — Services for Delta “Dale “ Maurice Book Jr., 46, who died Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at his residence, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at White Oaks Funeral Home Chapel in Alexandria, La., with the Rev. Gary Howington, the Rev. Jeremy Howington and the Rev. Shannon Pennington officiating.
Burial will follow at the Palo Alto Cemetery in Mayna below Jonesville under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday, both at the funeral home.
Dale was born May 26, 1969, in Ferriday, the son of Delta Maurice Book Sr. and Marcia Wesberry Book Butler.
He was a 1987 graduate of Block High School in Jonesville, then, enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Biddle during the Desert Storm War.
He was a Pentecostal by faith and attended the Pentecostals of Alexandria.
Dale was employed by Schenker Logistics in Pineville working as a training supervisor for the last six years. He was a true collector of antiques, loved staying close and connected to his family and friends. He was full of laughter and love, he enjoyed making people feel comfortable and laugh.
Dale was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandfather, Warren Wesberry; and paternal grandfather, Charles Book.
Survivors include his fiancée, Ronda Guillory of Alexandria; his mother and stepfather, John Butler of Vidalia; two sons, Delta Maurice Book III of Phillipsburg, N.J. and Jakob Aaron Book of Florida; three sisters, Yvette Estelle and husband, Don, of Monterey, Dina Pennington and husband, Shannon, of Kosciusko and Summer Michot and husband, Joel, of Vidalia; maternal grandmother, Lorena Ferrington of Monterey; paternal grandmother, Mable Book of Jonesville; one grandson, Dexter Williams; two stepsons, Brian Guillory and wife, Carissa, of Pineville, La., and Patrick McKinney of Alexandria; one stepdaughter, Jordan Blair and husband, Matthew, of Colfax, La.; step-grandchildren known to them as “Deeda,” Noah Blair, Conor Guillory and Elijah Guillory; and a number of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joel Michot Sr., Joel Michot Jr., Forrest Cripps, Don Estelle, Patrick McKinney, Matthew Blair, George Stanley and Harvey Toliver.
