Sicily island — The Sicily Island Tigers have forfeited its second game against Avoyelles, which was postponed Friday evening because of lightning.
“It’s not a decision I’m real happy about, but the administrators from both schools negotiated it,” Sicily Island head coach Stephen Collins said.
Avoyelles led 8-0 six minutes into a game that looked to be on its way to a high-scoring affair. Sicily Island’s Tyreke Tolliver scored on a 30-yard run before the lightning delay, but the play was called back for holding.
During the contest, Collins suffered a blow on the sideline, being blindsided by a player and leaving him with concussion-like symptoms.
“I was dizzy,” Collins said. “I had to go home. The doctor didn’t give a diagnosis, but I had to stay at home for the weekend. I’ll be alright, though. I’ve got to coach this team. I think I’m fine, but I’ll know once I get out in this heat and start sweating.”
The Tigers will travel to take on Arcadia this Friday in a 7 p.m. kickoff.
