NATCHEZ — The Natchez Board of Aldermen will meet at 5 p.m. today at Magnolia Bluffs Casino.
The purpose of the meeting isn’t to hit the slots, though.
“This is just to update the city on the amount of jobs and the revenue we have generated — all the key statistics,” said Kevin Preston, Magnolia Bluffs Casino president. “We do these meetings twice a year.”
Magnolia Bluffs became Natchez’s lone casino when Isle of Capri Casinos announced in August that it would close its Natchez casino and enter into an agreement to sell its hotel assets to Casino Holding Investment Partners, the parent company of Magnolia Bluffs Casino.
Preston said he would update the board on the company’s plan for renovating the Isle of Capri Hotel on South Canal Street and whether he expects the local gaming industry to grow or shrink with the casino’s closing.
“Our finance director is updating everything right now,” Preston said Wednesday.
