Trinity softball falls on road, 11-0

WINNSBORO, La. — The Franklin Academy Lady Cougars needed six innings to defeat the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints 11-0 Tuesday afternoon in an MAIS District 5-AA game.
Franklin Academy pounded out 13 hits in the game while Trinity Episcopal managed just four hits – all of them singles. Hannah Fitt went 2-for-3 and Alli Smith was 1-for-4. Anna Rodriguez added the other single.
Kailey Hutchins suffered the loss on the mound for the Lady Saints.
The Lady Cougars scored in all but one inning.
They scored one run in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the bottom of the second to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
The bottom of the fourth was Franklin Academy’s big inning as the team plated four runs for a 7-0 advantage.
They added four runs over what turned out to be the final two innings of play to enact the mercy rule.
Trinity Episcopal (0-15-1, 0-7) will end its season today at 4 p.m. when it hosts Cathedral for senior night, the festivities for which will take place prior to the beginning of the game.
