NATCHEZ — Natchez Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in an unsuccessful armed robbery earlier this month.
Natchez Police Detective Jerry Ford said the department is seeking Richard T. Norman III, 23, of Natchez, in connection with the Sept. 10 attempted robbery of a barbershop on Minor Street.
Police said at the time a man wearing a ski mask entered the barbershop at approximately 8:30 p.m. armed with a handgun and demanded money.
The robbery was foiled, however, when the owner of the business entered the shop from the back with his own weapon, firing several shots and scaring away the would-be robber.
Ford said Norman was identified as the suspect through tips to the department.
Norman is described as a 6-foot, 1-inch tall, black man weighing approximately 175 pounds. He has a mustache and tattoos on his chest and neck.
Those with information about Norman’s whereabouts can contact Crime Stoppers at 601-442-5000 or the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565.
